What the WHAT! After a winter of glamourous floor-length gowns, rippling trains, and even a cape or two, the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards are SUCH a breath of fresh air for those of us neck-deep in spring fever. From the vibrant candy colors popping against the orange carpet to the flirty shorter hemlines, there were a lot of pretty young thangs free-legging their way into the slime convention. Narrowing the slime-tastic night's truly exemplary showing of stylish ladies, like Kristen Stewart, Selena Gomez, and Emma Stone, down to a top 10 list was tricky business, but we rolled up our sleeves and got it done!
KRISTEN STEWART
One of the brightest shining style stars of the night was undoubtedly Kristen Stewart. KStew was absolutely stunning in this lacy cobalt Stella McCartney number. Though long-sleeved, the dress was still fresh and youthful with a peekaboo nude lining and mini-length hem. She finished off the look with minimal makeup, focusing on making her baby blues pop, an effortless ponytail, and matching Barbara Bui pumps (though, in classic Kristen fashion, she swapped them out for a pair of Converse kicks upon entering the show).
SELENA GOMEZ
Selena Gomez has grown into quite the style-savvy young lady. Sel definitely showcased her fashion chops at the KCAs with this two-piece Dolce & Gabbana ensemble: an on-trend sweetheart neckline bralette + a sequined box-pleated skirt.
ARIEL WINTER
Ariel Winter rocked one of the most covetable looks of the evening. Keeping with a kind of "white hot" trend on the night's step-and-repeat, Ariel looked both sweet and sassy in this pristine ivory latticed frock. On this dress, a high crewneck is balanced by a short circle skirt, and the entire look is bookended with Ariel side-swept dark locks and a pair of black sueded pumps.
VICTORIA JUSTICE
Victoria Justice took a bit of a fashion risk with her ensemble of choice, but we applaud her for splashing some variety by way of a coral shorts suit in a sea of cocktail dresses. The light ruffled shirt could have used a little unbuttoning or maybe swapping out the mesh booties for a funky platform, but overall, we love Vic's ballsy style move.
WILLOW SMITH
Willow Smith's newly pink hair may have called all attention to her tonsorial news, but in our humble opinion, her entire outfit was certifiably slammin' in an updated female Ducky kind of way. She's in with the girls with her white sundress base but puts her own very Willow spin on it with a cropped leather moto jacket, neon-and-lace detachable collar, bowler, spikey combat boots with bobby socks, and a yin yang crossbody. CUTE!!
KIERNAN SHIPKA
The adorable Kiernan Shipka did not disappoint at the Kids' Choice Awards in this darling white shift dress. The sweet and subtle neckline bow winks back at '60s Mad Men, but that chic topknot is aaaall 2012 fashionista.
KATY PERRY
In an homage to the KCA signature slime (and perhaps her own history at the awards), Katy Perry graced the orange carpet in a neon green slime bralette paired with a matching graphic printed skirt and peeptoe heels. She ditched her new bangs for the night, opting instead for an Iggy Azalea /Kat Graham-esque extra-long high pony streaked with touches of purple.
ARIANA GRANDE
Ariana Grande also went for a high pony, but instead of a belly-baring outfit like Katy's, Grande stepped out in a satin strapless cocktail frock in the sweetest spring-ready pale yellow - a perfect look for prom!
EMMA STONE
Emma Stone is one of the young starlettes of late who just consistently slays on the red carpet and in eyeball-massagingly interesting ways every. single. time. This Antonio Berardi is a fresh take on the LWD (Little White Dress) with its unique cuts and layers across the skirt and the subtle chevron at the waist. Also, we see you with your blonde hair again, Emma. Possibly filming a Spider-Man sequel, are we?? *wink wink nudge nudge*
MIRANDA COSGROVE
Nick star Miranda Cosgrove straight-up KILLED IT on the orange carpet in this cobalt leather shift. Despite its edgy materials and head-turning hue, the dress is still rendered totally Kids' Choice appropriate by its conservative neckline and youthful hem. Girl, seriously, can we borrow this some time? #WANT
